Mrs. Robinson guitar lesson (Simon and Garfunkel)

One of the most famous songs by Simon_and_Garfunkel , a great practice of changing the root of the chords.

  • changing the root of a chord can actually change the chord flavor or even change the meaning or essence of the chord .

change of the root D/C (D chord with the root of C) :

this chord has the same notes of D7 chord but in such an order (inversion) that the C note is the lowest one played,C is the 7th of the D scale and that is why this chord can also be called "D7".

  • changing the root of chord can also be used as a passing to another chord

for example C - C/B - C/A , this is a passing of the lower part (C->B->A) which leads the harmony to back to D (at 01:22).
